Scripture: James 1:22-24
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror
24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
Observations:
To be a hearer but not a doer of the Word, and thinking that this is okay is deceiving oneself. This is not okay. It makes no sense to do that, just like it makes no sense to look in a mirror and then quickly forget what you just saw. I think of how often I look in the mirror or see myself reflected on something. I know my face. I see it a lot. I feel like this is also the case with Bible-belt Christians, who hear a lot of the Word and are raised up in church. If these principles aren't applied to real life, then they are deceiving themselves into thinking they are in a good place with the Lord. They know better and the Lord will hold them accountable for knowing better.
Application:
Right now I'm in wonderful and humbling season. I am preparing to launch on a mission trip, and I'm trying my best to submit my life completely to the Lord. For years, and I mean YEARS, I've been wanting to serve more, and to find a place where I could be a doer of the Word. The Lord calls us to action. Whether we are local missionaries or going overseas, or supporting missions (very important!!!) the Lord calls us to love in actions and truth.
Prayer:
Father, thank You so much for the Word. That we are able to read it, and learn from it. God I praise You for convicting my heart when You needed me out of my comfortable place. I pray You guide each woman in this group to the action You need us to do, and give us courage and strength while we submit to You. In Christ's name I ask, Amen.
